Install Personal Assistant Harness (starter kit)

Everything installs into your project folder by default. Nothing goes into global folders like ~/.codex/skills or ~/.claude/skills.

Recommended: the kit installer (preview, lockfile, undo)

It refuses to overwrite files you already have (name clashes) unless you pass --force, which backs them up first. It records versions and hashes in teachmyagent.lock.json.

Manual install (project-local)

  1. Get the files: get_harness("personal-assistant-harness") over MCP, or download personal-assistant-harness.zip. get_install_instructions("personal-assistant-harness") returns this text; it doesn't install anything.
  2. Put the kit inside your project, e.g. ./.teachmyagent/kits/personal-assistant-harness/, and open your agent in the project.
  3. Rules file: Claude Code: copy AGENTS.md to ./CLAUDE.md (merge it if you already have one) · Codex: reference the kit's AGENTS.md from your project AGENTS.md · Gemini CLI: ./GEMINI.md · Grok Bot: "load AGENTS.md as your instructions".
  4. Skills, project-local: Claude Code: ./.claude/skills/<name>/ · Gemini: ./.gemini/skills/<name>/ · Codex: keep them in the kit folder and point to them from AGENTS.md ("Follow .teachmyagent/kits/personal-assistant-harness/skills//SKILL.md") · Grok Bot: "save each skills/*/SKILL.md as a skill". Check for an existing skill with the same name first, and don't overwrite it.
  5. Connectors: fill the REPLACE_ME URLs in mcp.json and add them at project scope (e.g. claude mcp add --scope project, or a project .gemini/settings.json). Use the least-privilege, read-only scopes first.
  6. Fill in memory/ (start with the files listed in memory/README.md).
  7. Run every item in EVAL.md before scheduling anything in ROUTINES.md.
  8. To undo a manual install, delete ./.teachmyagent/kits/personal-assistant-harness/ and the skill folders you copied.

Install over MCP

Preview first, install into this project, undo any time:
